Despite modern cartridges being designed to be leak-proof, accidents can still happen, and cartridges can still be damaged. Often, these accidents result in a problematic stain on a perfectly good shirt or pair of pants. Luckily, there are ways to remove them.
First, blot the ink stain with a dry cloth or paper towel as quickly as possible to remove excess liquid. Do not rub the cloth on the fabric or you may end up spreading the stain.
Make sure to press the paper towel with non-blotted surfaces to prevent re-transferring of ink back into the cloth. If needed, use fresh paper towels until all excess ink stains are blotted out.
Next, check your clothing tag if there are any guides on washing them. Some clothing tag forbids bleach.
If your clothing is washable in bleach, wash the clothing with a small amount of liquid laundry detergent on the ink stain first. Scrub with a toothbrush in order to lift the stain.
Mix one part bleach and one part water. Using a toothbrush, softly brush the solution to the stain.
Wash the cloth immediately in cold water. Hot water will only make the stain cling into the fabric.
Air dry. Repeat until ink residues are gone.
If your clothing isn't washable in bleach, use 3/4 cup (96g) of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 7 cups (896g) of water, 10-15 drops citrus essential oil, 1/4 cup (32g) lemon juice and 3/4 cup (96g) baking soda.
